3rd Bramhall Scout Group

Ladybrook Valley District

3rd Bramhall (Parkside) Scout Group was formed on 12th January 1960 at the old Rugby Club clubhouse which stood on the edge of the park ground about the location of Lausanne Road.

After the Clubhouse was burned down in an accident the group were invited to meet at the Parkside Club on Midland Road. We finally moved to Linney Road on 3rd March 1972, where we still meet. The current building was funded by a buy-a-brick appeal, and we still rely on the generosity of the local people supporting us at fundraising events.

  • Make friends
  • Are curious about the world around them
  • Help others and make a difference, on their own doorsteps and beyond

Every week, they gather in groups called Beaver Colonies to hop, skip and jump their way through lots of different games and activities – achieving anything they set their minds to, and having lots of fun along the way.

Week in and week out, they gather in groups called Scout Troops to conquer the small task of changing the world.

A very brief history of the Scouts

Scouts were founded in 1907 by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, who took 20 boys of different backgrounds, to Brownsea Island in Dorset for a fortnights camp, teaching the boys camping, cooking, observation, deduction, woodcraft, chivalry, boatman ship, lifesaving, health, patriotism and such things.

With over 100 years of Scouting behind us, the aims are still as relevant for today as they have ever been. They have been modernised and revised through the years, and in today’s multi-cultural world, have been expanded to cover the world wide Scout movement.

There are:
28 million Scouts in 216 Countries.
500,000 in the UK alone.

At the heart of today’s programme are six areas of personal development. These are Body, Mind, Faith and Beliefs, Relationships, Community and Surroundings. The young people are helped to grow and develop in each of these areas through their involvement in a balanced programme. With progression through the programme the youth achieve various awards and activity badges.
